Minutes of Annual General Meeting - 27^th November 2003.

Meeting Commenced at 7:55pm.

And was attended by 24 members with Alan Lavery taking the chair.

1 minutes silence was observed in memory of Mike Steen who passed away suddenly on 3^rd November. A letter was read by Eric Shilcock on behalf of Barbara Steen, expressing her thanks on behalf of herself and Gareth for all the kind letters and the support received in their tragic loss.

Barbara requested that Mikes ashes be scattered on the cricket square in the early spring and she would like all club members to join the family on this day. Barbara has requested also that donations received for Mike will come to Conwy CC. A Clock on outside of the pavilion being the main suggestion.

Apologies Of Absence ; Received, Dudley Hare, Peggy Longmore, Jamie Wilkinson, Barbara Steen, Matt Brierley, John Steed, Dave Owen, Sara Friend.

Minutes Of Previous AGM 14/11/02 ; Approved. (Proposed by E.Shilcock, Seconded by N.Davies). There were no matters arising.

Chairman’s Report ; (Separate attached sheet)

Treasurer’s Report ; The Chairman reported that no official accounts were available. However, the bank statement showed a balance of £4,857. Included in this balance was £700 earmarked for net repairs etc, which is still awaiting to be carried out, and £340 owed to A.Lavery for payment of loam.

     Awards for 2003 ;  Batting - E.Shillcock,  Bowling - C.Callear, Captain’s Award - M.Steen.

2^nd Team Captain’s Report ; N.Davies said that the first half of the season produced one win and one cancelled in the first 11 games. But a remarkable turnabout in the second half of the season produced 9 wins, 1 loss, and 1 cancelled. Moving the team from bottom to finish 6^th in the league. In his view this was mainly due to the good team’s spirit.

Under 13 Team Report ; N.Davies reported that the lads had a great team spirit, they played 8 games, winning 2 and losing 6. However, there were some excellent performances. S.Davies bowling figures of 6 wickets for 5 runs in 4 Overs against Colwyn Bay. And 50’s by P.Davies and D.Davies and good all round performances by D.Wilson. The Under 13’s cup being shared. Medals were given to all Under 13 Team Players.

Presentation of other Trophies ; Presidents Trophy - B.Steen, Chairman’s Trophy - S.Wypler, John Macdonald Trophy - J.Wilkinson, Bryn Jones Youth Trophy - D.Davies, New Centenary Cup Under 15 - Shared by D.Wilson, P.Davies, and S.Davies.

Groundsman Report ; G.Meredith reported that the loss of his wife last year had resulted in less time available and the drought did not help in preparation of the wickets. Plus to many games being played on the square. He also said that he will be having an operation early next year (2004) and could be missing for several weeks, so some ground cover may be required. A donation of £120 was presented to Graham for work during the past season.

Proposed Rule Changes ; None.

Annual Subscriptions/Match Fees ; The only change recommended was that of midweek players only. £15 less £5 discount unless paid by 31/05/04. All other subscriptions remain as before. Unanimously passed by the meeting.

Election of Officers ; Nominations for all posts except Conwy Colts Evening League Team had been received and the following were elected.

Chairman suggested that nominations be voted for enbloc, proposed by A.Greenland and Seconded by G.Meredith.

Proposed League Rule Changes ; Four rule changes were proposed.

            Proposal 1 - Meeting in Support of.                             Proposal 2 - Meeting in Support of.

            Proposal 3 - Meeting in Support of.                             Proposal 4 - Meeting in Support of.

The league AGM will be held on Sunday November 30^th 2003 at the Springfield Hotel Halkyn. A.Greenland and H.Kelly has agreed to represent Conwy Cricket Club and has been instructed to vote as above in principle.

   It was noted that the Centenary/Dinner Dance booked for 21^st of November 2003 had been cancelled owing to Mike’s sudden death, a future date in the New Year to be arranged.

   It was also reported that indoor nets had been booked at Llandudno Junction Sports Centre from Sunday 7^th March to Sunday 11^th April 2004 (Inclusive) from 5pm to 7pm.  -The AGM business was concluded at 10:05pm.
