September, come and join in the fun.
NORTH WALES LEAGUE DIVISIONAL AWARDS – won by Andy
Davies ( batting ) and Paul Williams ( bowling ). Congratulations to both, a
fine achievement, and an indication of how well the 1st XI performed last year.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – held at the end of
November last year. The committee were rather disgusted at the very poor
attendance by you the members ; virtually the only people there were the
committee themselves. It’s your club ; the committee only operate on your
behalf, but how can the committee hope to consider the member’s views on all
aspects of the club if you don’t turn up to express your views ?

CLUB WEBSITE :- has now been upgraded thanks to an
excellent job by Phil Davies and sponsorship from
ATOMA Chemicals. Have a look at it. The
address is :- www.conwycc.co.uk
FRIENDS REUNITED :- The club has an entry on this
website. Have a look at this too and put your details on to it.
E-MAIL :- Whilst we’re on the IT theme, it will
save the club time and money if we have your e-mail address if you have one.
Could those of you who don’t already receive e-mails from us please send me an
e-mail so I can note your address and place you on the club’s address list. My
e-mail is
alan@lavery2406.fsnet.co.uk I look forward to hearing from you.
SPONSORS :- for match balls are a useful source of
income for the club. If you know of any likely businesses or individuals who
would like to sponsor a match ball please either ‘ take the money ‘ from them or
inform a committee member. A new ball costs £18, but any amount will be greatly
appreciated. The sponsor will get a small amount of advertising by their name
appearing in the local press in a match report, and a mention in our fixture
book and website. In addition they are given Social Membership of the club.
If anyone can find a ‘ main ‘ sponsor for the club, so much the better.
SOCIAL EVENTS for your diary - Annual Dinner 2005
will be held on Friday 14th October. Venue to be decided. Further details to
follow.
Quiz Night Friday 6th May at the club.
Indoor Games Night Friday 3rd June at the club.
Horse Race Night Friday 1st July at the club.
Bar BQ Friday 5th August at the club.
Fun Bingo Night Friday 2nd September at the club.
Please come along to support the club and have some fun.
GROUND MAINTENANCE – is a permanent and vital
issue. A sub-committee is needed, under the guidance of Graham Meredith who, as
we all appreciate is not getting any younger, to keep on top of the work and
take the pressure off Graham himself. The committee hope that ALL MEMBERS will
take their turn at rolling, watering etc throughout the season, but would like
three or four members to put their names forward for the sub-committee. The club
officials/main committee can’t do everything, so if you want a good pitch on
which to play your cricket you’ve got to do your bit.
PRE-SEASON WORK – as usual will be required to tidy
up and clean the clubhouse, perform minor repairs and maintenance etc etc. As
with the ground itself, the committee can’t do everything, and it’s your club so
your assistance will be appreciated. You will be kept informed of when your
presence is required.
SMOKING - At the last committee meeting the TOTAL
BAN ON SMOKING IN THE BAR/LOUNGE AREA was reintroduced by a narrow vote. We know
this will upset some members, but given that we are a sports ( health and
fitness ???? ) club and the growing trend of banning smoking in public places
and workplaces, it is hoped that everyone will appreciate the reasons and accept
the ban, if not necessarily agreeing with it.
FINALLY, CRICKET - the first match for the 1st XI
is 23rd April, at home to Mochdre 2nd XI. The 2nd XI have to wait until 30th
April, at home to Llangollen 2nd XI. It is expected that the pre-season practice
match will take place the weekend of 16th/17th April. Exact day to be decided. A
full programme of Sunday and midweek friendly matches is planned as usual.
Hope to see you all as you enjoy your cricket through the summer.
