NEWSLETTER 2006
PRE-SEASON NETS
Commence on Wednesday 8th March at Aberconwy School sports hall. 8.00pm to 10.00pm for Senior players, 7.00pm to 8.00pm for Junior and Lady players. These will run for six weeks up to and including 12th April.
PRE-SEASON PRACTICE MATCHES
Senior practice match planned for Saturday 22nd April.
Junior/Ladies practice match planned for Sunday 23rd April.
LEAGUE MATCHES
First League matches take place on Saturday 29th April.
1st XI away at Carmel. 2nd XI home to Northop. There are no league games scheduled for Sundays this summer.
DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE
This year we have entered a team in the ‘ Development League ‘ which does play on Sundays. This consists of six home and six away matches and is aimed primarily at junior players to give them experience of playing in a league, and will be run by Tony Davies. It will be operated in tandem with the usual Sunday friendly XI captained by Hugh Kelly, which means that on occasions we will have to put two teams out on a Sunday.
SUMMER TOUR
To Gloucestershire between Sunday 23rd and Friday 28th July. Accommodation at Flagstone Farm Cottages near Stow-on-the-Wold.
Four afternoon matches and one evening match arranged. Speak to Olwen Kelly for details.
WINTER ‘ JUNIOR ‘ NETS
Taking place on Friday evenings at Aberconwy School hall, 7.00pm to 9.00pm, and are very well attended. Very good work by Eric Shillcock, Nick Davies, Adam Longmore, Matt Brierley, Alan Wilson and Medwyn Edwards all of whom are giving their time to coach the youngsters.

CLUB WEBSITE
Getting better and better with more additional information being added all the time. This year it is sponsored by Ann Davies and by ATOMA Chemicals. If you’re on the net have a look at it and if you feel inclined add some comments in the ‘ Guestbook ‘.
Great work by Phil Davies in creating and updating our site.
During the winter some misguided anonymous individuals from another local club made their own obnoxious and insulting entries in the Guestbook, but we have discovered who they are and letters of apology have been received.
SOCIAL EVENTS
A few social evenings of various types took place last year, attended in the main by the same few people. The committee are open to suggestions for social events that not only raise much-needed funds but help foster the excellent spirit that exists within the club.
Please make every effort to attend these events.
GROUND SUB-COMMITTEE
Graham Meredith, our valuable and long-serving Groundsman, has expressed his wish to ‘ retire ‘ this year. He will continue to offer advice up to the start of the season, but will then hang up his scarifier. A Grounds sub-committee will be formed to oversee the work on the square during the playing season, and there will no doubt be a request for ALL playing members to provide some assistance on occasions.
Assistance will undoubtedly be needed, the same three or four people, all of whom also have full-time jobs, cannot be expected to do all the work for the benefit of those other members who only want to play and not contribute.
SPONSORED CLUB TOPS
If you’ve ordered a sponsored club top, and if you haven’t already paid your contribution of £15 then Eric Shillcock needs your money as soon as possible. If you can’t get it to him in the next couple of weeks then please make sure you bring your payment to the pre-season net sessions. Cheques should be made payable to Conwy Cricket Club, not to Eric. Eric’s telephone number is 513236 should you wish to speak to him about payment.
ANNUAL SUBS
Pay before the 31st May and you could benefit from a discount of £5. The club benefits from having your money early in the season to pay all the bills. ( e.g. new cricket balls ), you benefit by saving £5.
Senior playing : £35 ( £5 discount if paid before 31st May )
Student playing : £20 ( £5 discount if paid before 31st May )
Evening League : £15 ( £5 discount if paid before 31st May )
Junior ( 16 to 18 ) : £10
Junior ( Under 16 ) : £5
Social member : £5
